Benedek Csalog (baroque flute; Hungary)

Born in Budapest, Hungary, Benedek Csalog studied flute at the Franz Liszt Conservatory, Budapest, then baroque flute at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Barthold Kuijken. He performs throughout Europe, in the United States, Brazil, Japan and the Middle East, and he is regularly invited to play as soloist at the important early music festivals, such as Musicora Paris, Holland Festival, Festival van Vlaanderen, Innsbruck Festival, St. Petersburg Festival and others.

He won first prize at the Baroque Flute Artist Competition in Orlando (USA) in 1995 as well as first prize at the Musica Antiqua competition in Bruges (Belgium) in 1996. Benedek Csalog has been teaching baroque flute at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig (Leipzig Music Academy) and at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music (PL), and regularly gives master-classes in Europe, Russia, South-America and Japan. He was a guest professor at the Franz Doppler Institute in Budapest regularly, giving master classes in Japan, Western-Europe, Hungary, at the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium, Moscow and he was artistic director of the Summer School for Early Music in Tokaj, Hungary.

Mr. Csalog produced 12 CD’s for German, Belgian and Hungarian labels and recently working on the recording of the complete flute sonatas, of J. J. Quantz, which contains 200 pieces.
