Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation and honoured Arts Worker of Russia.
Graduated from the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music (1962, as a student of V.Khomenko).
In 1960 he entered the Moscow Symphonic Orchestra (under Veronika Dudarova) and in 1961 he became a soloist and a group leader of the doublebass section of the orchestra.
In 1964 he entered the Great Symphonic Orchestra of Radio and Television (under G.Rozhdestvensky) which became the Great Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra (under V.Fedoseev).
In 1977 he became a soloist and the leader of the doublebass section and he was working in this position for more than 30 years.
Since 1975 he has been a teacher (later-a professor) of the State Gnessin Musical and Pedagogical Institute which became the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music. He is a doublebass teacher at the Moscow Gnessin School of Music (from 2009)
Along with his orchestral career and teaching, A. Belsky performs regularly as a soloist and a member of ensembles on the most prestigious Russian and foreign concert halls.
